A Survey for Transient Astronomical Radio Emission at 611 MHz

We have constructed and operated the Survey for Transient Astronomical Radio Emission (STARE) to detect transient astronomical radio emission at 611 MHz originating from the sky over the northeastern United States. The system is sensitive to transient events on timescales of 0.125 s to a few minutes, with a typical zenith flux density detection threshold of approximately 27 kJy. During 18 month...

Radio-Quiet Quasars in the VIDEO Survey: Evidence for AGN-powered radio emission at S1.4GHz < 1mJy

Understanding the interplay between black-hole accretion and star formation, and how to disentangle the two, is crucial to our understanding of galaxy formation and evolution. To investigate, we use a combination of optical and near-infrared photometry to select a sample of 74 quasars from the VISTA Deep Extragalactic Observations (VIDEO) Survey, over 1 deg. The depth of VIDEO allows us to stud...

Upper limits on the pulsed radio emission from the Geminga pulsar at 35 & 327 MHz

We report here our observations at 35 MHz and 327 MHz made in the direction of the γ–Ray pulsar Geminga. Based on the observed absence of any significant pulsed emission from this source above our detection thresholds at the two frequencies, we obtain useful upper-limits for the average flux to be 75–100 mJy at 35 MHz, and 0.2–0.3 mJy at 327 MHz. We discuss a few possible reasons for the “radio...
